We are working with a prestigious client in Newcastle who is seeking a highly skilled Senior Payroll Administrator to join their growing team.
The Role
As a Senior Payroll Administrator, you will:
- Take ownership of payroll processes, including data entry, validation, and analysis
- Run end-to-end payroll activities, ensuring timely and accurate completion
- Handle both standard and non-standard payroll tasks independently
- Liaise with the Pension Administration team and respond to payroll and pensioner queries
- Support senior colleagues with payroll projects and business development initiatives
- Mentor and train junior team members, checking their work to ensure accuracy
- Identify errors, resolve issues, and escalate when necessary
- Work proactively, managing your workload effectively and meeting strict deadlines.
The person
Essential:
- Considerable experience in payroll, including full end-to-end processing
- Strong knowledge of payroll legislation and compliance
- Proven ability to manage high volumes of work with accuracy and attention to detail
- Experience with RTI and BACS submissions
- Skilled in manual payroll calculations
- Excellent communication and customer service skills, including handling calls and queries
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Experience training and mentoring junior colleagues
