Job summary

Pontoon is seeking a Senior Systems Administrator / Patching Coordinator in Chester for a 12-month contract. The role focuses on coordination, scheduling and remediation management rather than hands-on administration, with collaboration across IT teams to ensure patches are scheduled and delivered on time.

The successful candidate will understand Windows and Linux environments, coordinate across large server estates, and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Experience coordinating patching, fixes or software deployments.
• Understanding of Windows and Linux server environments.
• Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.
• Ability to document patching activities and write clear records.
• Experience coordinating large numbers of servers or extensive estates.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate server patching activity across Windows and Linux environments.
• Manage and schedule servers for patching and remediation.
• Coordinate deployment of fixes, patches and software packages.
• Collaborate with AIT and other technical teams to understand deployment requirements.
• Translate technical requirements into actionable patching activities and tasks.
• Ensure patches and packages are prepared and scheduled for deployment.
• Monitor remediation of server security vulnerabilities across estates.
• Maintain records and provide updates on patching activity to stakeholders.
