Job description

Are you an experienced, RIBA-qualified Architect with a passion for sustainability and Passive House design? We have an exciting opportunity for a Certified Passive House Architect to become part of our multi-award-winning, friendly, and collaborative team based in Mid Cornwall.

At ARCO2, we specialise in low-energy, sustainable residential architecture, creating bespoke new and replacement homes in some of Cornwall’s most stunning coastal and rural locations. Our projects are primarily delivered through our award-winning sister company, ADD SC, or the client’s preferred contractor.

We’re looking for a like-minded architect who shares our ethical values and deep commitment to environmental sustainability. You’ll bring strong technical expertise, particularly in post-planning stages of Certified Passive House and low-energy residential projects, along with a minimum of five years’ post-Part III experience within a UK practice—essential for detailed knowledge of UK planning and building regulations.

Key Skills & Experience:

  • Certified Passive House Designer with certified PHPP experience
  • Proven experience in whole-life carbon calculations using PHribbon, WLCA, or AECB Embodied Carbon Calculator
  • Competent in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit, and Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience with 3D printing desirable
  • Demonstrable ability to manage and deliver projects across all RIBA stages
  • Strong interpersonal skills and experience building client and stakeholder relationships
  • Organised, proactive, and able to manage multiple deadlines

We’re looking for someone with genuine passion and flair for sustainable design, who takes pride in creating innovative, beautiful homes with a light environmental footprint.

Why Join Us?

  • Competitive salary based on experience
  • Opportunity to be involved in all aspects of a project, from concept to completion
  • Relaxed, supportive studio environment with free on-site parking
  • Mentoring and coaching from experienced senior leadership
  • 20 days holiday + bank holidays
  • Regular CPD lunches
  • Friendly team with year-round social events

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone seeking a lifestyle change. With Cornwall’s breathtaking coastlines right on your doorstep, you’ll enjoy an exceptional work-life balance while becoming part of a sustainably driven team.
