Job Description:

You bring extensive experience of leading large scale digital, product and transformation initiatives, working within established consulting and advisory circles and into large and complex organisations, such as Government departments, national charities or international businesses. You’ll know that product is a mindset, and this role is not project management or leading a PMO.

It involves working with Ministers, Perm Secretaries, CEOs - coaching and enabling them and their teams to take bold steps around reform and innovation in an AI era. It means being completely immersed in our client’s problem spaces, whilst building inclusive and exciting spaces for rainbow teams to think big and deliver at speed, and ensuring a consistently great TPX experience for our clients.

You’ll provide overall accountability and leadership for our most challenging programmes of work. You’ll bring a track record of holding accountability for large-scale digital transformation projects, programmes, and portfolios, using your wisdom, judgement, expertise, and good humour to ensure exceptional impact.

These range in scale, value, and complexity; in central government, they might involve leading cross-disciplinary teams across multiple projects with different senior stakeholders, outcomes, and team specialisms. TPX typically deploys 40-100 people concurrently, delivering some of the largest digital programmes for Government and beyond.

Our key areas include the UK public sector, with emerging work in commercial, higher education, and other sectors. We deliver critical digital transformation and change programmes, often in highly regulated environments or where uninterrupted statutory services or public health matters are essential.

This role is accountable for delivery, working alongside departmental directors/perm secretaries in major public sector organisations, supporting them to achieve their delivery goals. In complex projects, you’ll be supported by a senior sponsor managing the overall client relationship.

Dimensions (Indicative)

  • Portfolio oversight: Up to £20m revenue annually, TCV up to £60m
  • Headcount: approximately up to 150
  • Strategic portfolio planning: 6-12 months, aligned with account strategy
  • In-year revenue recognition
  • Client satisfaction and quality of delivery outcomes
  • Resource complexity: medium, with challenges in volatile labour markets
  • Problem-solving: medium complexity, requiring adaptability and dealing with ambiguity
  • Change management: medium, ensuring smooth transitions and strategic alignment

Responsibilities

Client Partnership and Ambassadorship: Foster deep partnerships with clients, creating a trusting and empowering delivery environment while balancing stakeholder needs, team wellbeing, and delivery pressures.

Leadership and Communication: Use exceptional communication skills to inspire confidence, ensure quality, and provide strategic direction.

Delivery Leadership: Lead major programmes, managing budgets, teams, client commitments, quality, and timelines. Promote a culture of openness, engagement, and creative problem-solving.

Work-winning: Build trust and develop relationships with clients and teams, contributing to growth through bids, pitches, and market opportunities.

Strategic Insight and Storytelling: Articulate change strategies, inspire through storytelling, and link delivery to broader impacts.

People Leadership and Development: Foster a values-driven team environment, promote accountability, and build capability within client teams.

Reflective and Active Learning: Embrace continuous learning, experimentation, and rapid iteration to foster innovation.
