Senior Painting Estimator / Surveyor/ Contracts Manager

Location: Based from our Cardiff Office carrying out contracts across South Wales.

Bagnalls is a highly-regarded, family-owned, professional painting contractor with 650 directly employed staff working from 17 branches across the UK. We work on significant, high-value commercial and highly-decorative painting projects with major blue-chip companies, prestigious universities and famous historic buildings. The Role

This role is an integral and trusted position right at the heart of our Cardiff business with over 20 painters and apprentices. This exciting opportunity offers the chance to be involved in all aspects of managing painting and decorating contracts from initial enquiry through to completion.

Key Responsibilities

1. Surveying properties/structures for painting work.
2. Assessing painting projects, estimating the cost, labour resources, materials, and time for completion.
3. Putting together well-presented, competitive tender packages for work.
4. Developing relationships with new and existing customers, ensuring that all customers receive excellent service.
5. Producing risk assessments and method statements for contracts, ensuring health and safety procedures are adhered to throughout projects.
6. Managing the contract from start to finish, ensuring that productivity targets and agreed quality and safety standards are met.
7. Managing project costs within budget to deliver planned financial results on completion.
8. Managing site-based operatives.

You

A proactive instinct is required to fulfil the role successfully, anticipating the actions required to deliver excellent painting contracts for our customers. We are looking for someone who is experienced in pricing and managing painting contracts.

Skills and Experience

1. Pricing of single painting projects of £2k to £200K in value.
2. Winning painting contracts through competitive tendering.
3. Managing site-based operatives.
4. Running painting contracts from start to finish.
5. Strong skills in financial analysis and commercial awareness.
6. Ability to manage a number of projects simultaneously with excellent organisational and prioritisation skills.
7. Ability to innovatively solve problems and work unsupervised in a busy environment.
8. Excellent social and communication skills to engage individuals and ensure cooperation to achieve the best possible outcomes.
9. Ability to build strong relationships with customers and the branch team and to act as a role model for the culture and values of Bagnalls.
10. Excellent written, numeracy, and IT skills.
11. Ability to meet tight deadlines.
12. Full driving licence.
13. Good general standard of education including as a minimum English and Mathematics GCSE at grade A*-C or equivalent.

Package

The exact package will be dependent on skills and experience. Basic salary will be in the region of £35,000 - £50,000 depending on experience, with potential to earn significant bonus based on performance. Fully expensed company car, life assurance, and 8% contributory company pension scheme also included. If your salary expectations are outside this range, we would still like to hear from you.

Hours: Full time (40 hours per week) Monday to Friday, with occasional evening and weekend work required.
