Job summary

Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust invites applications for a fellowship-trained Consultant Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgeon with a special interest in Children’s Orthopaedics. The post is a permanent, part-time position (<5.5 PAs) with 1 in 24 on-call for general trauma, adults and paediatrics, and a strong emphasis on teaching and research within a growing paediatric service.

The post collaborates with the University of Buckingham and Oxford partners to deliver comprehensive paediatric care and to develop community pathways and educational activities. Start date negotiable with notice periods.

Qualifications

• Fellowship-trained paediatric orthopaedic surgeon.
• CCT in Orthopaedic Surgery or nearing completion.
• Experience in trauma and paediatric care.
• Strong teaching and research interests.

Responsibilities

• Provide elective children's orthopaedic care, including hip dysplasia, clubfoot, lower limb deformity and neuromuscular conditions.
• Lead paediatric trauma care and fracture clinic supervision, including safeguarding.
• Work with paediatricians, the emergency department and therapies, and continue links with Oxford University Hospitals for shared care and complex referrals.
• Take part in annual job planning, appraisal and revalidation, with support from the New Consultant Development Programme and a named mentor.
• Teach and supervise students and doctors in training.
