Staffordshire Children's Hospital at Royal Stoke, part of the University Hospitals North Midlands NHS Trust, seeks a locum Paediatric Critical Care Consultant. The role includes consultant of the week coverage for PICU and HDU, plus on-call duties 1 in 5.5 with evenings and weekends.

Educational supervision and departmental meeting attendance are part of the role, with flexible working options considered. Permanent, full-time post with salary £113,565–£150,569 per year.

Qualifications

• Fully registered with GMC (essential)
• MRCPCH and FRCA or equivalent (essential)
• Specialist register or within 6 months of obtaining CCT by interview date (essential)
• Higher degree (MD/PhD) in related field (desirable)
• APLS/EPLS provider (essential)

Responsibilities

• Provide 8 weeks of consultant of the week cover to PICU and 8 weeks to HDU per year.
• Participate in 1 in 5.5 on-call rota for PICU including evenings and weekends.
• Engage in educational supervision and attend departmental meetings.
• Lead in paediatric intensive care clinical activities: emergency airway access and intubation, vascular access, pleural drain insertion, renal support, transport of critically ill children and respiratory support.
• Work closely with PICU team and broader multidisciplinary teams within UHNM.
