Job summary

Cygnet Hospital Stevenage seeks an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to provide senior medical cover on Pattison Ward, a 12‑bed male PICU. There is also an option to take on the Medical Director role for the site.

The post is part-time (four days per week) with commitment to GMC standards, audits and governance, and opportunities for leadership, teaching, and professional development within a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Fully GMC registered and MBBS qualified.
• Specialist register (CCT/CESR) or AC status.
• MRCPsych or equivalent membership.

Responsibilities

• Lead on high quality care for service users on Pattison Ward.
• Oversee patient treatment plans with the MDT and ensure governance.
• Audit medical services and maintain GMC standards.
• Liaise with MoJ for transfers and manage leave approvals.
• Provide medical leadership as Medical Director option when required.
• Contribute to CPD, academic meetings and model best practice.
