Job summary

Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced Children’s Community Nursing Sister to join the team on a fixed-term basis. The post supports children and families in home and community settings, including schools, with complex needs and life-limiting conditions.

The role requires Band 6 experience, IV/central line competency where applicable, and the ability to deputise for the team leader.

Qualifications

• Registered Child Nurse with relevant degree and registration
• Experience delivering teaching and mentoring
• Community Specialist Practitioner or willingness to undertake
• Paediatric life support up to date
• Advanced communication skills training
• Counselling training
• Children's community degree

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical care for children and young people in the community
• Deputise for team leader and supervise junior staff
• Lead areas of responsibility and review guidelines/NICE standards
• Deliver nurse-led clinics and participate in audits
• Mentor and teach staff and students across community settings
• Support health and education staff across schools and SEND settings
• Contribute to 24/7 palliative care cover and community care coordination
