Job summary

Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an enthusiastic Children’s Nurse to join the Community Nursing Service on a fixed-term 12-month basis. The post involves delivering clinical care to children and young people in the home and community settings across Blackpool and Fylde & Wyre, with a focus on safeguarding and multidisciplinary collaboration.

Qualifications

• Registered nurse with valid NMC registration.
• Experience in children’s community nursing is desirable.
• Competence in IV therapy, venepuncture and enteral feeding devices.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical care and treatments to children/young people as part of the community nursing team.
• Conduct assessments of health needs and develop individual care plans.
• Undertake home IVs, administer IM medications and venipuncture as routine tasks.
• Wound care, dressings, and development of wound care plans with tissue viability input.
• Attend MDT meetings and support multidisciplinary discharge planning to home.
• Safeguard children; manage referrals and attend supportive meetings.
• Care for children with acute and complex needs, including short and long-term episodes.
• Support virtual ward cases to enable early discharge and home-based care.
• Assist with continence/product assessments and contribute to EHCP processes.
• Provide training and education to parents, families, and school/nursery staff.
