Job description

A well-established UK charity is seeking a compassionate and skilled Senior Registered Nurse to join its community hospice at home service, delivering expert care to children and young people with life-limiting conditions. Operating in South East London, the organization is dedicated to providing high-quality, family-centered care in the home environment.


About the Role


As a Senior Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for:

  1. Providing respite care – Offering short breaks (2-6 hours) to support families
  2. Managing symptoms and medications – Ensuring children receive expert clinical care
  3. Delivering end-of-life and post-death care – Providing compassionate and dignified support
  4. Overseeing a caseload of children – Developing and reviewing individualised care plans

Key Clinical Skills Required:

  1. Registered Nurse (RCN / RGN / RNLD) with paediatric nursing experience
  2. Experience with Tracheostomy care and ventilation (invasive and non-invasive)
  3. Experience managing caseloads in the community is preferred
  4. Support families, addressing emotional and clinical requirements

Additional Responsibilities:

  1. Supporting and mentoring healthcare assistants
  2. Transcribing drug charts for community use
  3. Conducting initial assessments and annual care plan reviews
  4. Collaborating with multidisciplinary healthcare professionals
  5. Providing support within the residential hospice as required
