Job summary

West London NHS Trust is seeking an experienced Audiologist to join their team in Hounslow. The successful candidate will provide audiological care primarily for children, including assessments and management plans. Candidates are required to have a degree in Audiology and at least three years of NHS experience, with strong communication skills and the ability to work under pressure.

Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • Degree level or equivalent education in Audiology or MSc in Audiology
  • Parts I and II BAAT and Certificate for higher training (Paediatric)
  • Evidence of CPD
  • On the voluntary register with ACHS

Desirable criteria

  • Parts I and II BAAT and Certificate for higher training (Paediatric)
  • Deaf awareness training
  • CAC or CCC

Experience

Essential criteria

  • 3 years of experience of working in an NHS audiology department
  • 1 year of experience as paediatric audiologist
  • Experience of aiding children using NHSP/BAA protocols
  • Experience of working with the deaf, their families and culture

Desirable criteria

  • Experience of behavioural, rehabilitation and electrophysiological assessment
  • Audiological experience of working with newborn hearing screening programme
  • Experience of working with a cochlear implant team
  • Electrophysiological assessment for young babies
  • Experience of peer reviews

Skills and Abilities

Essential criteria

  • Ability to work with children and their parents with other disabilities, e.g. learning difficulties, autism.
  • Ability to work as autonomous professional
  • Multi-tasking, able to work under pressure
  • Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team and diverse patient group
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

Knowledge

Essential criteria

  • Infection prevention and control
  • Supervision ethos
  • Theoretical and practical knowledge of paediatric audiology and advanced audiological test techniques including national developments
  • Ability to formulate comprehensive and appropriate management plans based on good case history information
  • Awareness of budgetary/management limitations and constraints
