Job description

As a Senior Retoucher, you will contribute to the creation of high-quality visual assets that align with JDO’s creative vision and client expectations.

You’re an on-pack specialist who can adapt confidently to off-pack, balancing emotion with accuracy and knowing when to hero the product or hold back, maintaining visual coherence.

From first render to final pixel, you bring vision, care, and precision, delivering visuals that provoke emotion and build belief.

You’re a confident, craft-led creative with a sharp eye, steady hand, and deep understanding of making visuals sing. You bring calm leadership to the retouching process, blending creative thinking with technical finesse and respect for design intent. You thrive in collaborative environments, elevating work quality and team confidence, aligning imagery with emotion, brand, and belief.

While we seek a Senior Retoucher, we also consider candidates at a midweight level, so please apply even if you’re not yet ready for a senior role; we can nurture potential.

Responsibilities

1. Apply an expert creative eye to rendered images and photographic assets, recognizing and coaching strong visual storytelling.
2. Develop emotive and engaging imagery, contribute ideas, experiment with techniques, and support others in this process.
3. Recognize what is required to enhance and elevate images to high standards, aligning with the creative vision.
4. Utilize Photoshop, related apps, and AI platforms to produce high-quality assets.
5. Advise on image processing for production, delivering ready assets to meet deadlines.
6. Maintain organized file structures, adhere to file management standards, and ensure full editability.
7. Plan and manage workloads to meet deadlines, delivering quality work.
8. Assist in project estimation and timeline planning as needed.
9. Understand the role of retouching in the design process and creative offerings.
10. Provide regular updates on project progress and communicate challenges or adjustments.
11. Participate in team discussions, critiques, and feedback sessions.
12. Show a proactive attitude to learning and sharing new tools, techniques, and approaches.
13. Support and mentor junior and midweight team members.

Location & flexibility

1. Based in Tunbridge Wells (preferably) or London.
2. Flexible working can be discussed; studio time is important.
3. Minimum 32 hours/week, with at least 2 days in a UK studio.
4. Ideally full-time (40 hours/week), with 3 days in studio.
