Job summary

Essex County Council is seeking an experienced Housing Occupational Therapist for a fixed-term role (up to 2 years) to support district councils across Essex. You will assess housing factors affecting adults and children, enable safe discharges, and coordinate with Health, Housing, and Environmental Health teams to deliver timely adaptations and prevent delayed care placements.

Qualifications

HCPC registration as Occupational Therapist.
Experience delivering major adaptations.
Experience mentoring staff and acting as subject matter expert.
Chairing meetings with clients and multi-agency professionals.
Ability to build strong relationships with partners and community.

Responsibilities

Complete holistic assessments considering housing and household factors.
Collaborate with Health colleagues to process referrals for safe discharge.
Refer to universal services and liaise with Family Operations.
Provide equipment, support, and signposting for needs.
Make recommendations on properties, adaptations, and equipment according to policy.
Progress and support recommendations requiring specialist input.
Monitor referral pathways and provide data for cost savings.
