Job summary

NHS Golden Jubilee University National Hospital is recruiting a Senior Healthcare Support Worker to join the Orthopaedic Nursing Team in 4 East Orthopaedics. You will support clinical and non-clinical care delivery, working with Registered Nurses to provide patient-centred care in Scotland’s leading national elective orthopaedic centre.

Qualifications

• SVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care.
• Experience working within a clinical healthcare environment.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Basic IT skills.
• Basic Life Support (BLS).
• Competence in monitoring vital signs, wound care and venepuncture.
• Understanding of Data Protection, Caldicott principles and patient confidentiality.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• A genuine interest in supporting patients, relatives and colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Support Registered Nurses in delivering high-quality patient care, including personal care, skin care and assistance with nutrition and hydration.
• Monitor and record routine clinical observations, including blood pressure, temperature, pulse, oxygen saturation and blood glucose levels.
• Assist with patient admissions, discharges and transfers under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
• Undertake enhanced clinical duties including venepuncture, ECG recording, wound care, MRSA screening and urinalysis.
• Communicate effectively with patients, relatives and the multidisciplinary team.
• Support housekeeping and environmental duties to maintain a safe and clean clinical environment.
• Assist with Clerical, Portering and Administrative Responsibilities As Required.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and help ensure excellent patient outcomes and experiences.
