Job summary

A leading environmental consultancy in the UK seeks a Principal/Associate Director or Technical Director level Ornithologist to lead projects in the renewable energy sector. This full-time permanent role offers a competitive salary (£45-£65k) and the opportunity for hybrid working. Candidates should have a strong understanding of UK bird species and experience in consultancy, reporting, and client liaison.

Qualifications

• Experience advising clients on ornithology requirements.
• Ability to produce clear technical reports, including Ecological Impact Assessments.
• Capability to develop strong client relationships.

Responsibilities

• Lead projects and support the existing team on various projects.
• Provide clear advice and documentation to support projects.
• Oversee sub-consultants and mentor team members.

Skills

Knowledge of UK bird species, ecology and distribution

Field ornithology and survey techniques

Strong communication skills

Technical review experience

Education

Relevant degree

CIEEM membership (preferable)
