About the Company - My Client is an exciting Engineering consultancy and they are currently looking for a Senior Structural Engineer to join them on a permanent basis.

About the Role - As a Senior Structural Engineer, you will design and supervise projects designated by your Team Manager. Carry out detailed design and calculations in accordance with either British Standards or Eurocode as directed. Assist and prepare designs, specifications, reports, and drawings to the design programme. Oversee and direct both CAD and junior engineers as required. Attend meetings and site visits to review/monitor works and undertake surveys as required to progress the projects.

Responsibilities -

  • Designing, managing, and supervising projects; establish client brief, technical requirements, scope of works, cost plans, and agree deliverables, i.e., report, specifications, and drawings scope for all projects with your Group Leader.
  • Agree level of service and project design duties with your Group Leader for each project.
  • Assist Group Leader with monitoring engineering/CAD resource requirements for each project within your control.
  • Carry out engineering concept design to detailed design, tender, and contract on-site supervision to completion, ensuring projects are undertaken in accordance with design briefs and that completion deadlines are achieved.
  • Liaise with the design team to produce coordinated designs that are technically compliant, to a consistent quality and standard.
  • Provide positive contributions to design/project meetings.
  • Maintain regular ‘in-house’ design reviews and checks.
  • Monitor and control project progress, design variations, and project financial budgets where applicable.
  • Maintain excellent client and design team relationships to achieve high levels of satisfaction and repeat business.
  • Undertake structural survey works and produce reports for the same.
  • Pursue new business opportunities where appropriate with existing and new clients.
  • When acting as design team leader, coordinate with other project disciplines where required.
  • Implement Company Health and Safety. Ensure all designs respond to the CDM regulations.
  • Implement and assist in managing QA systems and procedures on all projects.
  • Assist with Project Archiving at the end of a Project Completion.
  • Accurately complete timesheets, assist with invoices and other reporting requirements and submit in accordance with reporting formats and deadlines.
  • Maintain personal CPD and personal development plans.
  • Continuously adopt all Civil and Structural engineering rules and regulations, ensuring protection of the Company's reputation and Professional Indemnity at all times.

Qualifications -

  • Extensive experience, especially in designing and managing projects, ideally 5 years’ industry experience.
  • Experience of monitoring contract staff or third-party appointments would be desirable.
  • Educational qualifications to a degree level or equivalent are desired.
  • Chartered Status in the chosen discipline, or ongoing pursuit of Chartered status and business qualifications where applicable.
  • Able to undertake computer modelling, organize and direct the production of CAD drawings, and correspond effectively with counterparts at other consultancies.
  • Skills in project managing ongoing jobs with limited supervision are desirable.
  • Experience in the same or similar position is desired.
  • The ability to project a positive and professional attitude at all times.
  • Good knowledge and use of appropriate project and design analysis software.
  • Personable and a ‘can-do’ attitude with resource management experience.
  • Able to establish rapport and good working relationships within the project team and Clients.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills.
  • To be able to work as part of a team and collaboratively and cooperatively.
