As part of a growing and agile business, our Soils and Sustainable Land Management team is looking for a Senior or Principal Soils Consultant with a broad range of EIA experience. You will work collaboratively with a range of technical specialists on a broad range of projects, lead and coordinate topic-specific input to Environmental Impact Assessments and related deliverables, work closely with clients, develop new areas of business, and mentor others in the team.

You will be instrumental in improving the understanding and sustainable management of soils and land use impacts for projects like energy and infrastructure developments, large-scale mixed-use schemes, public realm, and masterplanning projects. We promote technical excellence and digital innovation in a collaborative environment. You will play a key role in delivering major multidisciplinary projects.

Duties include but are not limited to:

1. Leading coordination and delivery of soil and land use assessments in Environmental Impact Assessments.
2. Coordinating and leading soil and Agricultural Land Classification surveys.
3. Undertaking work to high standards and reviewing others' work.
4. Collaborating with the Soils Team, Impact Assessment Team, and related disciplines across the UK.
5. Managing projects or project components, including resource allocation, subcontractors, and quality assurance.
6. Supporting tender proposals and bids as part of a project-winning team.
7. Providing soils and land use advice to clients, project managers, and colleagues.
8. Engaging with consultees and stakeholders.
9. Developing clear reports and explaining outcomes to non-technical audiences.
10. Managing projects with attention to technical, quality, commercial, and health and safety performance.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Experienced soil consultant/scientist with EIA experience, preferably in a consultancy or multidisciplinary environment.
• Experience in soil surveying, including Agricultural Land Classification.
• Member of the British Society of Soil Science and chartership in progress or achieved.
• Knowledge of EIA and planning processes related to soils and land use.
• Strong report writing, communication, and review skills.
• Experience in multidisciplinary projects and project management.
• Consulting and negotiating experience with authorities and stakeholders.
• Commercial skills, including forecasting and quality assurance.
• Valid UK driving license.
• Desired: Knowledge of carbon accounting related to soils and land use.
