Senior or Principal Mechanical Engineers - Defence - Attractive

Northern England (Cumbria) - Permanent and Long Term - Military and Defence Systems

Multiple Senior or Principal Mechanical Engineers are required for an international Defence and Weapons Systems company that is expanding its team.

Salary and Seniority will depend on your skills and experience.

This position requires full-time on-site presence (4.5 days, 37 hours per week) with paid overtime actively encouraged.

The Senior or Principal Mechanical Engineers will be part of the Mechanical Engineering team, supporting technical changes to existing products (Defence and Weapons Systems).

This role may suit candidates from the Oil and Gas Industry or other safety-critical engineering sectors.

The role involves Mechanical Development, Testing, Trials, and Commissioning, with opportunities to influence the next generation of defence/weapons platforms and technologies.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Develop design evidence to justify safe, effective designs and build customer confidence.
  2. Specify and assist in building prototypes, products, and systems for testing.
  3. Provide corrective actions for defects and issues.
  4. Ensure commitments are reviewed and met.
  5. Mentor junior engineers on technical matters.
  6. Deliver presentations to technical and management audiences, keeping abreast of technical innovations.
  7. Author or co-author technical reports, papers, patents, and presentations.
Key Skills, Experience, and Qualifications
  • Degree in Engineering, Mechanical, or Science subjects.
  • Ability to work with technical documentation and present to customers and teams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, including engineering calculations and FEA analysis.
  • Experience with the engineering lifecycle.
  • Some CAD knowledge, proficiency with MS Office, and IT applications.
