Senior or Principal Mechanical Engineers - Defence - Attractive

Location and Contract Details

Northern England (Cumbria) - Permanent and Long Term - Military and Defence Systems

Multiple positions available for an international Defence and Weapons Systems Company expanding its team.

Salary and Seniority: Will depend on skills and experience.

Work Environment: Full-time on-site presence (4.5 days, 37 hours/week) with paid overtime encouraged.

Role Overview

The Senior or Principal Mechanical Engineers will join the Mechanical Engineering team, supporting technical modifications to existing products (Defence and Weapons Systems). This role may suit candidates from Oil and Gas or other Safety Critical Engineering sectors.

Responsibilities include Mechanical Development, Testing, Trials, and Commissioning, with opportunities to influence next-generation defence and weapon platforms and technologies.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

1. Develop design evidence packages to justify safe, effective designs and build customer confidence.
2. Specify and assist in building prototypes, products, and systems for testing.
3. Provide corrective actions for defects and issues promptly.
4. Ensure commitments are reviewed and met.
5. Mentor junior engineers on technical matters.
6. Deliver technical presentations to diverse audiences, staying abreast of new concepts and markets.
7. Author or co-author technical reports, papers, patents, and presentations as needed.

Qualifications and Skills

1. Degree in Engineering, Mechanical, or Science subjects.
2. Ability to interpret and present technical documentation.
3. Proficiency in solving complex engineering calculations and FEA analysis.
4. Experience with the Engineering Life-cycle.
5. Some CAD knowledge, proficiency in MS Office, and comfort with other IT applications.
