Senior or Principal Mechanical Engineers - Defence - Attractive

Northern England (Cumbria) - Permanent and Long Term - Military and Defence Systems

Multiple Senior or Principal Mechanical Engineers are required for an international Defence and Weapons Systems company expanding their team.

Salary and seniority will depend on your skills and experience.

This position requires full-time on-site presence (4.5 days, 37 hours per week, plus paid overtime).

The Senior or Principal Mechanical Engineers will be part of the Mechanical Engineering team, supporting technical changes to existing products (i.e., Defence and Weapons Systems).

This role may suit candidates from the Oil and Gas industry or other safety-critical engineering sectors.

The Senior or Principal Mechanical Engineers will be involved in Mechanical Development, Testing, Trials, and Commissioning, with opportunities to shape future defence/weapons platforms and technology.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop design evidence packages to justify safe, effective designs and build customer confidence.
  • Specify and assist in building prototypes, products, and systems for testing.
  • Provide corrective actions on defects and issues.
  • Ensure commitments are reviewed and met.
  • Mentor junior engineers on technical matters.
  • Present effectively to technical and management audiences, staying abreast of technical concepts and markets.
  • Author or co-author technical reports, papers, patents, and presentations.
Required Skills, Experience, and Qualifications:
  • Degree in Engineering, Mechanical, or Science subjects.
  • Ability to work with technical documentation and present to customers and groups.
  • Experience with complex engineering calculations and FEA analysis.
  • Background in Engineering Life-cycle processes.
  • Some CAD knowledge, proficiency with MS Office, and comfort with IT applications.
