Job description

Senior or Principal Geoarchaeology Consultant | Expression Of Interest, Cardiff

Stantec UK is seeking experienced geoarchaeologists to join as Senior or Principal Consultants across UK offices, preferably Reading. The role involves providing technical advice, conducting field investigations, and delivering complex reports for water, highways, and infrastructure projects.

This opportunity allows you to work within a global consultancy on high-quality archaeological science and geoarchaeological projects, including small to nationally significant schemes. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and liaise with stakeholders such as local authorities and Historic England.

Responsibilities include risk analysis, research, preparing technical documents, reviewing geological data, site visits, and managing archaeological fieldwork. You will also coordinate paleoenvironmental assessments and work closely with the wider team to identify project risks and opportunities.

About You

You should be highly motivated, with a strong knowledge of UK archaeological science, legislation, and planning policies. Essential skills include consultancy experience, excellent report writing, GIS proficiency (preferred), geoarchaeological fieldwork experience, membership of CIfA at Associate level or above, and a full UK driver’s license.
