About the job

The role will mainly focus on providing consultancy services relating to Life Cycle Assessment (Embodied Carbon) and Circular Economy Strategies. Projects will include new build, refurbishments and fit outs. The role will require in-depth technical knowledge of LCA tools including OneClickLCA and Circular Economy Strategies for new and refurbishment projects, in addition to exemplar interpersonal, presentation, organisational and management skills. In addition, you will be expected to contribute to the development of the business through involvement in writing fee proposals, attending project interviews and fostering business relationships with both existing and new clients.

Responsibilities

  1. The successful candidate is expected to have sufficient knowledge and project experience of Life Cycle Assessment and Circular Economy Strategies for new and refurbished buildings. Technical responsibilities will include the following:
  2. Calculation of embodied carbon and whole life carbon using OneClickLCA and other bespoke tools.
  3. Development of Circular Economy strategies.
  4. Provide advice to project teams and run workshops to explore opportunities to reduce embodied carbon and material use.
  5. Reporting in line with BREEAM and GLA reporting guidance for LCA and Circular Economy.
  6. Maintain knowledge of low carbon technologies and design strategies with a particular focus on (Net) Zero Carbon.
  7. Develop technical reports and produce calculations in line with project needs.
  8. Ensure continuous improvement and application of the latest thinking and innovations relating to sustainable design and operation of buildings.
  9. Development of standards and assessment procedures.

Qualifications

  1. The individual undertaking this role is expected to have the following skills:
  2. Have a relevant science or engineering degree.
  3. At least 4 years (senior) or 6 years (principal) experience in a related role.
  4. Working knowledge and proficient using OneClickLCA.
  5. Knowledge and experience of BREEAM and GLA reporting requirements for Embodied Carbon and Circular Economy Statements.
  6. Good understanding of the policy and regulatory landscape relating to sustainable buildings and building energy in the UK.
  7. In-depth knowledge subject matter frameworks and guidance like RICS methodology, LETI guidance, UKGBC related guidance and UK Pilot NZC Building Standard.
  8. Good experience of front line (face to face) delivery to customers.
  9. Clear communicator – comfortable with presenting to an audience (both written and verbally) on both technical and non-technical matters.
  10. Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines, independently and as a team member or leader.
  11. Good experience of analysing complex data.
  12. Highly motivated, customer focused and willing to take on new challenges.
  13. Ability to prepare and deliver compelling proposals in writing and in interview situations.
  14. Ability to contribute to team working and collective objectives.

Employment basis:

This is a full time, permanent position based at Twin&Earth’s London office. Twin&Earth currently offer hybrid working – allowing staff to work from home up to 3 days a week (subject to meeting client & project needs). Contracted hours will be 37.5hrs a week.
