Job summary

Thermoteknix Systems Ltd in Cambridge/Waterbeach area is seeking a Senior Optical Engineer to lead design, development and optimisation of optical and opto-mechanical systems for next-gen thermal imaging, night vision and AR products.

You will collaborate across mechanical, electronic, firmware and software teams, perform modelling and testing, and shepherd designs from concept to manufacture in demanding environments.

Qualifications

• Degree or higher in Optical Engineering, Physics, Photonics or related field.
• Extensive experience designing optical systems.
• Experience with Zemax OpticStudio, Code V.
• Knowledge of MTF, distortion, aberrations and radiometry.
• Experience taking designs to manufacture.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop optical systems for imaging and AR.
• Model, simulate and optimise optical architectures.
• Work with mechanical, electronic and software teams.
• Define optical requirements and acceptance criteria.
• Support NPI testing and production transfer.
• Review supplier designs and tolerances.
