Job summary

RTX in Kilkeel, Northern Ireland, is seeking a Production Team Leader to guide a lean manufacturing unit. You will drive performance against KPIs, deliver the Master Production Schedule, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.

The role requires strong people leadership, stakeholder communication, and a focus on safety and quality in a fast-paced environment. Permanent position with standard hours and occasional shift adjustments as needed.

Qualifications

  • Essential criteria: 2+ years in a supervisory role or 3+ years in an MA role;/or completed a relevant development programme; plus 2+ years in manufacturing or current P3 role.
  • Desirable criteria: experience in developing training plans, coaching, and leading multi-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and direction to a Production team.
  • Ensure performance delivery against targets and quality standards (Master Production Schedule and KPI's).
  • Drive continuous improvement and cost reduction to maximise efficiency.
  • Manage a team to improve line performance and develop individuals.

Role Overview

Provide leadership to a production team within a lean manufacturing environment where performance is measured against key performance metrics and quality standards and the focus is on driving a culture of continuous improvement.

  • Provide leadership and direction to a Production team.
  • Ensure performance delivery against key targets/metrics and quality standards (deliver the Master Production Schedule and related KPI's).
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement and cost reduction to maximise efficiency and effectiveness within a team.
  • Effectively manage a team to increase line performance and development of individuals.
  • Developing effective relationships within both the production and support departments to achieve organisational goals
  • Ensure that all Health and Safety standards and requirements are met.
  • Effectively communicate with internal stakeholders and manage change within a fast-paced production environment.

What you need to succeed

Essential Criteria:

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in a comparable supervisory role OR 3 years' experience in an MA role OR Has successfully completed a relevant Development programme e.g. (the ML Development programme, Step up Development Programme, Tech Tracks etc) OR Hold or working towards a third level education in a relevant discipline AND Minimum 2 years' experience in the manufacturing industry OR Currently working in a P3 role

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience of developing training plans.
  • Experience of developing team members through coaching and mentoring.
  • Experience of developing assembly or logistic processes.
  • Leadership of multi-functional teams.

Location & Contract

Location: Kilkeel, Newry, Mourne and Down

Type: Onsite

Contract: Permanent

Working hours: 39 hours per week, 8:00am - 5:00pm Monday to Thursday and 8:00am - 1:00pm Friday. The post holder may be required at times to work outside his/her normal working hours for the effective performance of the duties of the post. In addition, you may be required to work a different shift pattern than the one outlined in the key terms table dependent on business needs. Should you be required to work an alternative shift, we will provide you with the details of the shift pattern including start and finish times and will endeavour to provide as much notice as possible, with a minimum of two weeks' notice wherever feasible.
