Brighton and Sussex Medical School (BSMS) is seeking a Senior Operations Manager to ensure the smooth daily running of the Medical School within the Sussex-Brighton joint venture, across three campus sites.
The role involves leadership of a large administrative team, coordination of HR processes, estates and facilities projects, and governance through key committees. The post requires strong communication, diplomatic leadership, and willingness to travel between BSMS sites.

Grade 8 starting at £47,389 to £56,535 per annum, pro rata if part time.

The BSMS Senior Operations Manager ensures the smooth running of the Medical School on a day-to-day basis, in the context of the joint venture between the University of Brighton and the University of Sussex, with staff working across three main campus sites.
Working collaboratively with the school's Head of Professional Service, responsibilities include leadership and management, support for all Human Resources processes, management of resources, support for health & safety, managing estates and facilities projects; updating of key management information, membership of key decision-making bodies including the Sustainability Committee, School Management Group and Health & Safety Committee.
A systematic organised approach to work is vital as well as a willingness to travel to the different BSMS sites. The role requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills, for dealing with many types of people at all levels in a direct diplomatic way.
Strong leadership skills, including effective time management, prioritising and delegation, are required as the post-holder will lead a large team of administrative staff. You must be able to lead, coach, inspire, support and motivate your team, and always seeking to improve best practice
Ideally, you will have the relevant working experience of working within the context of a joint venture and have experience of working at a senior level within a medical school setting. You will have the skills to manage your own workload and at times, support other colleagues. You will communicate clearly with your team, line management, and stakeholders.
