Position Overview
This position will be located in the Kansai area. Amazon is seeking a Senior Operations Manager to join our Japan Amazon Logistics team. The goal of Amazon Logistics (AMZL) is to build a world-class last mile operation delivering to customers. We aim to exceed customer expectations by ensuring quick, accurate, and cost-effective deliveries, and we are expanding rapidly in Japan.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee budget, people development, and operational objectives for an Amazon Logistics Delivery Station (DS).
- Manage and lead a team of Operations and Area Managers, coaching and mentoring to meet performance objectives.
- Build positive employee relations and leadership bench strength within the DS.
- Ensure safety, quality, performance, customer experience, and people development across all delivery station operations.
- Drive vision, quality initiatives, process improvements, and lean initiatives to meet and exceed business plans.
- Identify and close performance gaps, set clear expectations, and measure performance for Operations and Area Managers.
- Manage daily relationships with multiple Delivery Service Providers (DSPs).
- Present operational metrics to senior leadership regularly.
- Hire, develop, and retain top talent, including talent acquisition, performance management, learning, and engagement.
- Leverage team ideas to create improvement plans and foster a strong culture and engagement.
- Share best practices across departments and shifts.
- Collaborate with key business partners to support projects and initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience.
- 10+ years of operations experience in supply chain, logistics, transportation, manufacturing, retail, etc.
- Experience leading and managing a team of 10+ people.
- Business-level English proficiency.
Preferred Qualifications
- Extensive operations experience in a fast-growing company or industry.
- 15+ years of operations experience.
- Experience leading rapid expansion plans.
- Proven record of delivering multiple programs on time.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Business-level Japanese proficiency.
- Enthusiasm for working in a diverse and inclusive environment.
