Job description

About the Role

Grade Level (for internal use):

08

The Team

Portfolio Valuations (PV) provides an independent, post-trade valuation service to buy-side institutions globally, covering vanilla and exotic OTC derivatives, cash instruments and structured notes across all asset classes. The service also enables clients to receive an aggregated set of counterparty marks for their trades.

You will join a collaborative team of analysts responsible for creating, maintaining and delivering high-quality derivatives market datasets and valuations. The team works closely across functions and regions, with a shared focus on accuracy, client service and continuous improvement.

The Impact

In this role, you will help ensure that clients receive accurate, timely and reliable OTC derivative valuations and market data. Your work will support daily and monthly valuation processes, strengthen quality controls and contribute to the development of valuation products and systems.

The position offers the opportunity to deepen your derivatives knowledge across asset classes, build commercial and client-facing skills, and understand how your work contributes to the team’s broader goals and service quality.

Responsibilities
  • Organize and run daily and monthly client valuation processes, taking hands‑on responsibility for assigned accounts.
  • Investigate and resolve straightforward and complex price challenges, using market data and valuation analysis to reach clear, well‑supported outcomes for clients.
  • Review derivatives valuations and market datasets, perform quality‑control checks, identify potential issues and follow them through to resolution within agreed timelines.
  • Run, refine and help automate data capture and cleansing processes to improve quality, efficiency and scalability.
  • Contribute to the design, testing and ongoing improvement of S&P Global valuation systems and new products, bringing forward practical ideas and solutions.
  • Build and maintain effective client relationships; host client calls, present the Portfolio Valuations service, act as an escalation contact, and review and resolve incidents.
  • Work collaboratively across functional and regional teams, provide support beyond assigned tasks when needed, and follow the controls required to maintain service quality.
  • All employees are required to work from the office a minimum of 2 days per week
What We’re Looking For

Basic Required Qualifications:

  • A degree in a quantitative discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Good understanding of OTC derivatives in one or more asset classes.
  • Good understanding of financial markets and a strong interest in developing broader knowledge of OTC derivatives across asset classes.
  • Strong working knowledge of common office tools, including Excel; experience using VBA to support analysis or process improvement.
  • A client-service mindset and the confidence to communicate with external clients regularly by email, phone and in meetings.
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to identify potential issues, follow clear guidelines and determine an appropriate course of action.
  • Effective organization and time‑management skills, including the ability to assess urgency, meet timelines and maintain quality standards.
  • Clear, structured and professional written and verbal communication, with active participation in team discussions and collaborative work.
  • A resourceful, solution‑oriented approach, with the initiative to support colleagues, contribute beyond assigned tasks and look for ways to improve quality.
  • We require all candidates who reach the final stage of our interview process to attend at least one in‑person interview, which is ordinarily at your nearest S&P Global office. This must be completed before we can proceed to an offer.

Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant practical experience in derivative pricing, valuations, market data or a related financial‑services environment.
  • Programming or querying experience in a language such as SQL or Python.
  • Good understanding of the market and reference datasets used for OTC derivatives across asset classes.
  • Experience contributing to process automation, system testing, product development or operational improvement initiatives.
  • Experience building client relationships, presenting technical information clearly or supporting the resolution of client incidents and escalations.
