Job description

Location: Hybrid (London)
Reports to: Director of Operations for the UK and Europe

Job Purpose

We are looking for a highly motivated and capable candidate to join our UK and EU operations team. This role is ideal for someone with strong analytical skills who can break down complex operational processes, ensure compliance with energy regulatory frameworks, and drive process optimisation and synergy across operational teams.

You will work closely with the wider operations team to deliver operational improvements, analyse performance data, and support regulatory and commercial reporting across our energy and flexibility portfolios.

Company Overview

OakTree Power is a leading London-based climate-tech start-up that works closely with global grid operators to support the ongoing transition towards a fully sustainable electricity system. We partner with commercial and industrial clients to integrate advanced technologies to reduce energy consumption and CO₂ emissions. Our mission is to empower clients to achieve long-term sustainability by fully embracing net-zero opportunities.

Main Purpose of the Job

OakTree Power is seeking a candidate with a strong interest in the energy and renewable sector, particularly in sustainability and net-zero goals. With a minimum of three to five years’ experience in operational support, data analysis, or energy-related roles—including exposure to flexibility markets, DSO tenders, or balancing services—the role will support the execution of OakTree Power’s energy strategy through data-driven insights, operational analysis, and cross-functional collaboration.

Strong communication skills are essential, as the role will work closely with internal teams, clients, and external stakeholders to translate complex data and market requirements into clear, actionable outcomes.

The above list outlines the main duties of the role and is not exhaustive. Responsibilities may be amended from time to time in line with business needs.

Job Responsibilities
  • Analyse operational and energy data across client portfolios to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for optimisation.
  • Ensure compliance with energy regulatory bodies (e.g. Ofgem, EU energy regulators) and operational requirements for demand flexibility programmes.
  • Support the development and implementation of operational strategies to improve efficiency, reliability, and regulatory compliance across UK and EU operations.
  • Strengthen process alignment and synergy between operational teams, data systems, and business functions.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand strategic and operational priorities, providing analytical and compliance support.
  • Continuously review operational and compliance performance to generate insights, identify improvements, and embed best practices.
  • Produce clear, accurate, and insightful reports on operational performance, exposures, risks, and compliance, presenting findings effectively to support decision-making.
  • Contribute to cross-functional projects supporting the scaling of OakTree Power’s operations across the UK and EU.
  • Collaborate with development teams to ensure solutions meet business and client requirements.
  • Support Project Managers by contributing to project and business readiness plans as required.
  • Complete administrative duties as needed.
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, or Energy Management.
  • Three to five years’ experience in operational support, data analysis, or energy/industrial sector roles.
  • Understanding of energy regulatory frameworks and operational compliance requirements.
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills, with proficiency in Excel and Power BI (or equivalent tools).
  • Ability to work with complex datasets, identify trends, and support process improvement.
  • Exposure to energy efficiency, demand flexibility, or multi-site operational environments.
  • Experience with SQL, Python, or workflow automation.
  • Familiarity with UK/EU energy market operations, Capacity Market rules, or DNO procedures.
  • Certifications such as Power BI, Six Sigma Green Belt, or Energy Management.
Skills and Attributes
  • Exceptional analytical ability and attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of energy regulatory compliance and operational procedures.
  • Ability to translate complex data into actionable operational and compliance insights.
  • Process-oriented mindset, capable of identifying inefficiencies and driving continuous improvement.
  • Collaborative communicator with excellent stakeholder management skills.
  • Comfortable working with complexity, ambiguity, and cross-functional problem-solving.
  • Proactive, curious, and motivated to learn and grow within the energy sector.
  • Proficiency in English; additional European languages are an advantage.
Salary and Benefits

  • Time off: 25 days of annual leave plus 8 bank holidays.
