Job summary

Mid Devon Council in Tiverton is seeking an experienced Senior Officer (Private Sector Housing & Environmental Protection) to lead investigations and oversee regulatory enforcement. You will advise colleagues, elected members and partners, and manage inspections, casework and prosecutions as needed.

You will also oversee a small team of Regulatory Officers, shaping service planning, policy development and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Experience leading complex investigations in Private Sector Housing or Environmental Protection.
• Proven ability to deliver regulatory and enforcement actions.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Proficient IT skills and numeracy for casework and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex investigations and enforcement actions across Private Sector Housing & Environmental Protection.
• Undertake inspections, investigations and statutory enforcement actions; prepare case files and support prosecutions.
• Represent the Council at hearings and court proceedings; provide expert technical advice to colleagues and partners.
• Line management responsibility for Regulatory Officers and contribute to service planning and policy development.
