The role

You will work in the Energy Delivery Team managing the integration of large and complex energy projects within the Welsh Government Woodland Estate. Responsible for the interface between the development and construction of high-profile projects and Natural Resources Wales (NRW)'s land stewardship responsibilities. Influence key stakeholders and maintain partnerships internally and externally; enhancing the reputation of the project by responding to and managing risks and issues raised.

Collaborate with other Directorates to ensure that internal governance procedures are followed, embedding Sustainable Management of Natural Resources (SMNR) and Wellbeing outcomes in energy project deliverables. The role involves desk and site-based work on the WGWE in North & Mid Wales. You will work with specialist project suppliers and are expected to matrix manage a small, internal project team. You will have a central role in the energy delivery project management structure and are expected to analyse and interpret complex information, communicating key points to others.

The role reports to the Energy Delivery Team Leader, in the Northeast Operations Directorate. This exciting and challenging role will part-resource a new Welsh Government service level agreement. You will ensure that works are carried out in a safe, environmentally sustainable, and legally compliant manner. You will have good customer care skills, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to develop good working relationships.

This role requires project and contract management expertise spanning technical disciplines including land management, forestry, environmental, and engineering. A strong candidate will have relevant training, skills, experience, and knowledge in one or more of these disciplines, and experience of large-scale renewable projects is desirable.

As an organization, we support flexible working. You will be contracted to an NRW office within the specified location, and a suitable hybrid working pattern will be agreed upon appointment. Any regular face-to-face meetings or training will be planned in advance. Interviews will be face-to-face (details of time and location will be shared in advance). Successful external applicants will be subject to a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

We aim to make offers of appointment within 4 to 8 weeks of the closing date.
