A health service organization in Leeds is seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist to join their team at the Children's Hospital. The role involves working with children in various clinical settings, providing comprehensive assessments and interventions. Candidates should possess a relevant degree and experience in pediatric care, as well as strong communication and clinical skills to support children's rehabilitation.
Anotherexciting opportunity has become available on our popular Band 6 rotationwithin the Childrens OT service at The Leeds Childrens Hospital.
Therotation covers both inpatient and outpatient services, treating childrenwithin wards, outpatient clinics and via home and school visits.
Experiencewill be gained within several clinical areas of acute Paediatrics includingRheumatology, Chronic Pain, Neurology, Neuromuscular, Oncology, Neurodevelopmental babies, Orthopaedics and general medicine/surgery. We are alsocurrently collaborating with the adult neurosciences team to establish anadditional area to the rotation where you can gain experience working withadults with neurological conditions, further enriching your skills andknowledge in neuro rehab.

Carrya caseload working within a team of skilled occupational therapists and thewider multidisciplinary team.
Workwith OT and MDT colleagues providing holistic, goal focused assessment andinterventions for children and their families. Interventions could include:
neurologicaland cognitive assessment/rehab, posture management, fatigue and painmanagement, management of spasticity/tone, hand assessment/therapy andsplinting.
Interventionsmay take place within the hospital, home or school environment.
Gainexperience in the treatment of children with complex conditions andco-morbidities
Supportthe wider team, taking an active role in service development
Deputizingfor the Band 7 where appropriate.
Providetraining and supervision to junior staff and undergraduate students.
Becommitted to personal, staff and service development through supervision,appraisal, training, research and audit.
TheChildrens Occupational Therapy team work across Leeds Childrens Hospital,covering both inpatient wards and outpatients. Our core hours are Monday-Friday 8:00-4:00 flexible working patterns can be considered.

ClinicalResponsibilities
Thispost holder will be responsible for providing complex occupational therapyintervention in a specific clinical speciality.
Thepost holder will work as an autonomous practitioner addressing occupationaltherapy performance skills, social context and activity demands incollaboration with patients, carers and colleagues.
Clinicalintervention may take place in a variety of settings including wards, therapydepartments, clinics, peoples homes, work places, community facilities,child care and educational establishments.
Thework involves close liaison with the multi-disciplinary team and communitybased health and social care providers.
Thepost holder is responsible for financial and physical resources forexample,use of equipment store systems such as Leeds Equipment Service, pettycash.

2. To assess capacity, gain validinformed consent and have the ability to work within a legal framework withpatients who lack capacity to consent to treatment.
3. To establish individual patients,plan and carry out effective Occupational Therapy intervention to aspecialist level, in the most appropriate environment taking into accounteach patients individual physical, social and emotional needs
