Job summary

Priory Hospital Nelson House in England is seeking a Senior Occupational Therapist for a part-time post (30 hours per week) on longer-term care pathways. Friday is a core day. The role focuses on complex mental health, neurological and physical needs with a small therapy team and close ties to the multidisciplinary group.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of patients with mental health, neurological and physical needs.

• Lead and develop a small therapy team including an OT Assistant and an Activities Coordinator.
• Provide clinical supervision and support to the therapy team.
• Oversee equipment and discharge planning.
• Contribute to service improvements and high quality patient care.
• Collaborate with carers and support the carers group with the Medical Director.

Job description

Senior Occupational Therapist post at Nelson House, a Priory Hospital rehabilitation service for men with complex mental health conditions. Work centres on a caseload of patients with mental health, neurological and physical needs, specialist assessments and treatment plans, and leading a small therapy team. The part-time role covers 30 hours a week with Fridays as a core day, on longer-term care pathways. HCPC registration and prior mental health and supervision experience decide fit.

• Ensure high standards of clinical practice, documentation and patient care

What’s required

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Occupational Therapy, or a degree, honours degree or Masters in Occupational Therapy
• Formal postgraduate study, award or non-award bearing, as an alternative

Registration & licences

• HCPC registration

Experience

• Prior experience working in mental health services as a qualified member of staff
• Experience supervising Occupational Therapists, Occupational Therapy Assistants and students

Skills & knowledge

• Training in relevant models of practice such as MoHO, VdTMoCA and Sensory Integration
• Knowledgeable, energetic and personable, with a patient-centred approach

Checks & eligibility

• Disclosure at an appropriate level from the DBS, Access NI or Disclosure Scotland
