About Us: At Brain kind Neurological Care Centre Lancashire (NCCL), we offer a dual service, providing a therapy-led level 2 specialist neurorehabilitation service and neurological care for residents with various neurological conditions. We provide a holistic environment with a diverse staff skill set, aiming to optimize clients' health, independence, and emotional and social needs. Since November 2023, we transitioned from Sue Ryder Neurological Care Centre Lancashire to Brain kind, formerly The Disabilities Trust, opening opportunities for personal and professional growth, service development, and research. Our interdisciplinary team includes registered nurses, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Neuropsychologists, Assistant Practitioners, and Rehabilitation Assistants, with weekly input from our Neuro Rehabilitation Consultant. We also offer Neuro Music Therapy, on-site activities, hydrotherapy, and emerging technologies like VR. Our new facility supports group work and innovative practices.
About the Role: The Senior Occupational Therapist will work within our neurorehabilitation unit, conducting holistic assessments and treatments for complex neurological patients. Responsibilities include setting SMART goals, facilitating discharge planning, engaging in community activities, and performing home visits across Lancashire and South Cumbria. You will maintain detailed records, apply evidence-based practices, communicate effectively, collaborate with the MDT, and utilize advanced assessment and treatment skills, including equipment provision and risk assessments. Staying updated with emerging technologies is also essential.
About you: You should hold a degree in Occupational Therapy, be HCPC registered, have relevant CPD, and substantial experience in rehabilitation, particularly neurological settings. You must demonstrate expertise in evidence-based practice, clinical reasoning, and working at band 6 level or above. Autonomy, task prioritization, and risk management skills are required.
