A leading health trust in the UK is seeking a Senior Occupational Therapist for its Secure Mental Health Services. The post involves working within a multidisciplinary team to provide bio-psychosocial interventions, patient assessments, and treatment planning. This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Occupational Therapist to work within the Occupational Therapy Team based at Brockfield House in Wickford Essex. Working alongside, Occupational Therapists, assistants and activity coordinators well as the wider MDT. The post holder will be responsible for completing OT assessments and OT interventions, contributing to the therapeutic timetable, as well as providing supervision to the activity co-ordinators.
Brockfield House is a Regional Secure Service covering the demographic area of South and North Essex, Luton and Beds. There are 7 wards, 5 Medium Secure and 2 Low Secure for men and women; providing interim services for male/female recovering from severe and enduring mental illness within secure environment. The focus is on multi-disciplinary approach from nursing, medical occupational and vocational therapy, psychology and social work staff. The aim is to rehabilitate patients to a stage where they require a more open regime within a less secure environment. The care provided is based on the recovery model. The aim is to provide individualised care and evaluation of the patient's progress and recovery. People are encouraged to be involved in their care planning and, where possible, the family is also involved. The wards operate on a multi-disciplinary team basis with regular input from the Community Mental Health Team and Community Forensic Team .

Here at EPUT we maintain our own bank of specialist staff to ensure that we are able offer safe and effective care at all times.
All our permanent staff are automatically enrolled onto the staff bank however this does not mean you have to work any additional shifts, but the option is there for you if you wish.

· To assess patients admitted to the Secure Service wards.
· To utilise specialist assessments when presented with complex cases.
· To make decisions on the level of treatment intervention required.
· To undertake treatment planning, communicating and negotiating treatment plans and clinical reasoning for intervention with patients and their carers.
· To communicate agreed treatment/care plans to multi-disciplinary team colleagues and partnership agencies and liaise with them at formal and informal meetings.
· To undertake manual handling assessments ensuring other professionals and carers are aware of manual handling needs.
· To work in collaboration with others to modify aspects of the environment in order to empower patients and facilitate optimal functional performance.
· To liaise with Social Services and Housing Organisations concerning provision of equipment and home adaptations.
· To manage a complex caseload.
· To apply a variety of treatment modalities to meet the needs of patients in individual or group format, utilising clinical reasoning processes to determine the most appropriate setting for intervention, e.g. home visits.
