Job description

We havean exciting opportunity for a Senior Occupational Therapist to join our teamand work as part of our well-established and friendly team at Cotswold ChineSchool following a trauma informed approach. The role will involve deliveringthe Occupational Therapy process of assessment, intervention, and evaluationwith reference to evidenced informed practice. The role will also involve linemanagement skills including conducting clinical supervisions, preceptorshipprograms and appraisals with identified Occupational Therapists. The role alsoincludes completing analysis and auditing of therapy progress and outcomes forthe children and to be able to confidently share this within professionalmeetings. In addition, a strong focuswill be on implementing sensory regulation strategies working within a traumainformed and attachment focused model of approach.

It isessential that you are able to work within a team and can evidence yourexcellent communication skills with the ability to autonomously manage your owncaseload. It is essential that the candidate is able to demonstrate experienceof working as a qualified Occupational Therapist and is able to demonstrateways in which they have mentored or coached others to support theirprofessional development. You must be able to demonstrate evidence of coreOccupational Therapy skills and be registered with the Health Care ProfessionsCouncil.

Main duties of the job

Key Responsibilitiesfor this role:

The rolewould include occupational therapy assessment, interventions and creatingtherapeutic support plans and goals for the children and residents.

To hold line management responsibilitiesincluding conducting supervisions and appraisals with identified OccupationalTherapists.

To be able to play an active role incompleting analysis and auditing of therapy progress and outcomes for thechildren and residents and be able to confidently share this withinprofessional meetings.

Toattend multidisciplinary team meetings as required and be able to shareprogress and feedback for the children and residents, utilising clinicalreasoning skills.

NovalisTrust, is a charity that supports children and adults with NeurodevelopmentalDifficulties and other learning needs. The role would include opportunities tosupport the children with achieving their therapy goals within areas such assensory, physical, emotional literacy, emotional regulation, and independentliving skills.

There isan established clinical therapy team at Novalis Trust, which consists ofOccupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Drama Therapist,Social Workers, and Psychotherapist. There are regular clinical and therapyteam meetings to discuss, share and track progress within the individualstherapy and to document outcomes of therapeutic interventions. This post willprovide opportunities to develop your professional skills whilst beingsupported through working in an established team of experienced therapists.

Job responsibilities

To beable to work as an autonomous Occupational Therapist including managing owncaseload and providing Occupational Therapy assessment and intervention forchildren and residents as required. This includes prioritising needs andcompleting administration tasks.

To beable to follow the Occupational Therapy process including deliveringstandardised and non-standardised assessments, interventions, and evaluationwith the children and residents.

To beable to advise on specialist equipment and domestic and workplace environmentalalternations.

To writerecords and reports and ensure that the database is kept up to date in a timelymanner.

Toassist and support the therapy provision throughout the Trust as required bythe Head of Clinical and Therapy.

Toliaise as required with professional networks.

Toattend the Clinical and Therapy meeting and other multidisciplinary teammeetings as directed by the Head of Clinical and Therapy.

Toattend meetings with the therapy department to discuss wider therapy issues asrequired.

To beable to attend professional meetings as directed by Head of Clinical andTherapy and be able to confidently share the childrens therapy progress andoutcomes.

To holdline management of identified occupational therapy staff, conductingsupervisions, preceptorship plans and appraisals, and all other line-managementresponsibilities.

Tooversee the skill set process to identify and monitor key areas of progress anddevelopment for children and assist with the goal setting process across thecare and therapy departments.

Tosupervise Occupational Therapy students whilst on placement at the trust andmonitor progress and feedback from student placement experiences to supportreview processes within the trust and wider professionals.

Tomaintain own continuing professional development and use reflective practice toevaluate and update current practice.

To providesupport and coaching to care and education staff regarding the therapeuticneeds of students and residents.

To takean active role in undertaking training in personal and professional skills andin the Trusts ethos and systems
