Senior Occupational Therapist
2 x Full Time / 37 hrs permanent contract
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Occupational Therapist who is enthusiastic about enabling individuals to live safely and independently in their own homes.The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to continuous professional development, service improvement, and the support and development of team members.The Occupational Therapy Team at Telford & Wrekin Council delivers a broad range of services aimed at promoting independence and well-being.
The team’s core responsibilities include the assessment, recommendation, provision, and review of equipment, minor works, and major adaptations, primarily through the Disabled Facilities Grant.These services are delivered by the Occupational Therapy Team, Hybrid Practitioners based at the Independent Living Centre, and Trusted Assessors across the borough.Additionally, the team operates a Smarter Care Service, which reviews existing care packages and recommends adjustments to ensure appropriate levels of support—whether through single-handed care or revised care durations.
We also have a unique Family Carer OT service which is supporting family carers, offering guidance in moving and handling techniques to safeguard both carers and those they support.

The Senior Occupational Therapist will provide leadership and support to the team in their daily responsibilities, including the delivery of supervision, prioritisation of referrals, coordination with the wider multidisciplinary team (MDT), and the management of complex cases, Peer Reviews are an integral part of our practice, fostering collaborative decision-making on complex equipment and adaptation recommendations. These forums also serve as a platform for professional support and shared learning.
The Senior Occupational Therapist plays a pivotal role in these sessions, ensuring consistency, leading problem-solving discussions, and upholding best practices.This role offers the opportunity to work with a diverse range of complex health conditions, thereby enhancing and broadening clinical expertise. Additional responsibilities include fulfilling our preventative duties as outlined in the Care Act. The successful applicant will be:

Candidates must be a qualified Occupational Therapist and be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). Candidates must demonstrate acommitment to their own professional development.
