Senior Occupational Therapist - Midlands NHS Trust

One of the well-known Trusts in Midlands is looking for a Senior Occupational Therapist to join their team. The Trust provides a comprehensive range of acute hospital services across five hospital sites. As one of the largest NHS trusts in the country, it offers specialist care in cardiology, cancer services, trauma, and orthopaedics. It is committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care and innovation in clinical practice.

The Occupational Therapist will be based within the medicine team, working within the multidisciplinary team, responding to referrals generated by the ward or by the Occupational Therapist screening the wards that the medicine team is responsible for.

The Occupational Therapist will carry out skilled work in the assessment and treatment of patients with complex and/or chronic conditions, providing specialist skills to enable patients to explore, achieve, and maximize their independence and maintain quality of life in activities of daily living—areas such as personal care, domestic, leisure, and productive activities.

Work independently and be responsible for your own individual caseload.

The Occupational Therapist will liaise closely with the senior Occupational Therapist from the wider team and will receive supervision in complex cases. They will also liaise with other professional groups within the Trust and with external agencies as necessary.

The Occupational Therapist will assist in ensuring that the service meets the demands of providing a 7-day service.

Requirements:

  • HCPC registration with OT qualifications.
  • Appropriate clinical experience in an acute setting.
  • Experience of working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
