A leading health board in Wales is seeking a full-time Senior Occupational Therapist to join the Monmouthshire Assertive Outreach Team. The successful candidate will provide specialist assessments and interventions addressing the needs of adults with severe mental illnesses, focusing on community service delivery with a strong emphasis on collaborative care. Job Overview
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced, full time (37.5 hours) Senior Occupational Therapist to join Monmouthshire Assertive Outreach Team (AOT). The assertive outreach team provides a more enhanced service for adults diagnosed with severe mental illness. In addition to mental health problems, the people who use the service are often affected by alcohol/drug misuse, homelessness or have contact with the criminal justice system. The post is community based and the successful applicant will see individuals within their own home.
The post holder will work under the direction of the Professional Lead OccupationalTherapist and supervise Occupational Therapy Support Workers.
The post holder will be required to use occupational therapy assessments and interventions to inform the overall assessment and recovery plan of service users. The occupational focused 'Discovery Through Activity' programme is established across the service. All occupational therapists have use of MOHO assessment tools. The post holder will work within a multi-disciplinary team to provide assessment and recovery focused support.
The post is part of a wider network and professional structure of occupational therapists across the mental health and learning disabilities division with regular practice forums and workshop opportunities.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable, Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
