Job summary

NHS Professionals is seeking a Band 8a Sonographer to join our ultrasound team across Stoke Mandeville Hospital and Wycombe Hospital on a temporary basis until June 2027. The role requires independence, extensive expertise in general, obstetric and gynecological ultrasound, and involvement in education and supervision of junior staff.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in general medical, obstetric and gynaecological ultrasound.
• Ability to work independently in a complex clinical environment.
• Experience in training, supervision and development of radiology staff.

Responsibilities

• Perform and report general abdominal, small parts, obstetric and gynaecological ultrasound examinations, including trans-vaginal scans.
• Provide specialist ultrasound expertise and diagnostic guidance to clinicians.
• Work across Stoke Mandeville Hospital and Wycombe Hospital, including ITU/NICU/theatre/trauma settings.
• Support one-stop clinics and clinical pathways; refer cases as needed.
• Ensure patient safety, infection control and QA of ultrasound equipment.
