Job summary

Somerset NHS Foundation Trust is seeking experienced doctors to join our Obstetrics and Gynaecology team at Musgrove Park Hospital as Trust Grade Registrars (ST4+ equivalent) on 12-month fixed-term contracts. The posts offer a chance to develop middle-grade clinical experience across a busy general service with resident rota duties.

You will work with consultants and the multidisciplinary team across labour ward, obstetric and gynaecological emergencies, inpatient and outpatient settings,

Qualifications

• Completion of Foundation Training and specialty training competencies equivalent to ST4 level or above.
• Substantial postgraduate clinical experience in obstetrics and gynaecology.
• Experience working at second-on-call/registrar level in obstetrics and gynecology.
• Experience in assessment, investigation and management of acute obstetric and gynecological conditions.
• Ability to work across Labour Ward, emergency care, inpatient and outpatient settings.

Responsibilities

• Provide registrar-level cover for Obstetrics and Gynaecology services.
• Assess, diagnose and manage obstetric and gynecological patients.
• Participate in labour ward activities including normal and high-risk deliveries.
• Attend maternity triage and emergency services.
• Provide care for antenatal and postnatal patients.
• Participate in elective and emergency operating lists.
• Assist with and perform procedures within competence.
• Manage gynecological emergencies and on-call responsibilities.
• Attend consultant-led outpatient clinics.
• Ensure accurate clinical documentation and effective communication.
