Job description
Senior Nurse (Inpatient)

We are currently looking for a compassionate, knowledgeable, and motivated Senior Nurse to join our friendly Inpatient team at HMP Swaleside. Your role will focus on delivering high quality mental health, physical health, pharmacy, and substance misuse care within an integrated model.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver acute and primary care, long‑term condition management, enhanced assessment, diagnostic intervention, and health promotion activities in line with NHS Plan and national frameworks.
  • Provide proactive, evidence‑based nursing practice to ensure quality and outcome‑driven practice on a day‑to‑day basis.
  • Support the development of specialist evidence‑based practice and promote research as appropriate.
  • Participate in managerial and professional clinical supervision programmes and supervise junior staff.
  • Implement patient‑centred care planning tools, long‑term condition registers, and consistent delivery across the prison service.
  • Give intravenous injections, immunisations, syringe pumps and infusions as necessary.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • National Security Vetting and completion of pre‑employment background checks with Oxleas and the prison vetting team.
  • Proof of right to work documentation.
  • Proof of ID (one photographic ID).
  • Proof of address documentation.
  • 5‑year UK address history. Non‑UK passport holders must provide a correct right‑to‑work document and Home Office Share code. If less than 5 years, a police certificate in English is required.
  • UK passport holders who have lived abroad for more than six months in the last three years must provide a certificate of good conduct or overseas police check in English.
  • We are currently unable to offer a certificate of sponsorship for this post.
  • All applicants must be willing to undertake National Security Vetting in order to work in a Prison Setting.
