Job Description

PA Consulting helps defence clients utilize technology to accelerate science-to-practice in new and established markets. As the world changes rapidly, our physicists use fundamental science to develop new technology concepts, understand their real-world applications, and implement them—answering the question, "Is this possible?" We seek scientists who are creative with physics, capable of translating complex concepts into practical solutions, and comfortable with applying theory in real-world scenarios.

We provide our clients with a competitive edge by offering data-driven insights for rational development decisions. Our approach involves understanding scientific advancements through concept development, modeling, and experimentation. We value hands-on scientists who enjoy working in multidisciplinary teams to deliver next-generation capabilities.

Qualifications

  • A strong academic background in applied and theoretical physics, with the ability to apply fundamental principles to real-world challenges.
  • Experience and enthusiasm for applying physics and/or mathematics to address challenges, primarily in defence, with awareness of other sectors.
  • Experience leading small teams to achieve research or business outcomes.
  • Preferably a PhD with experience in developing and applying emerging technologies such as quantum computing, metamaterials, or advanced sensing and communication systems.
  • Industrial R&D experience in high-tech organizations, leading research studies involving multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to view physics in a systems context, understanding how scientific cores integrate into complex capabilities.
  • A hands-on approach to developing experiments that demonstrate scientific principles.
  • Extensive experience in logical information analysis and communication skills for collaboration with technical and non-technical teams.

Nice to Have

  • Leadership experience in multidisciplinary research/business projects.
  • Experience in business development or grant writing.
