Location: Manchester or Bristol

Working Pattern: We operate a flexible hybrid working pattern at Frazer-Nash, with time split between the office, client sites and working from home.

Closing date is 30th June. We encourage early applications, as vacancies may close once we receive sufficient applications.

At Frazer-Nash we have a strong presence within the nuclear sector, and our current team of specialists cover a diverse range of different disciplines. We are looking for people who can complement our team providing technical support to our clients, through:
  • Developing new and existing models of nuclear plants using a variety of modelling codes.
  • Performing analysis of fault sequences and other system transients to inform design decisions and support safety case submissions.
  • Providing technical expertise in understanding the complex thermal-hydraulic phenomena predicted by the modelling.
  • Providing model validation support and guidance.

What do we look for in a Senior Nuclear Systems Modelling Consultant?

For this role, we are specifically looking for people with previous experience of systems modelling within the nuclear sector to grow and support our current team, allowing us to meet the growing needs of our current and prospective clients. We anticipate that the role will encompass:
  • Continuing development of your technical expertise in using thermohydraulic modelling codes.
  • Communicating complex concepts and results to our customers in a way that they can be readily understood.
  • Developing and strengthening our technical and commercial relationships with our existing clients.
  • Expanding our technical capability and client base across the new-nuclear sector.

What will working as a Senior Nuclear Systems Modelling Consultant be like?

We empower and support our engineers to deliver a wide range of projects throughout their careers, including:
  • Taking the lead: Managing all aspects of technical projects, including client communication, project delivery and other staff involved in the project.
  • Variety: Typically, our people participate in several projects simultaneously, and so you can expect to enhance your skills through a diverse range of interesting and engaging work. Our projects are wide-ranging and can last from a few weeks to many years of sustained support.
  • Winning work: Developing new business by responding to enquiries and writing bids, and representing Frazer-Nash at client meetings, conferences and seminars.
  • Developing capability: We are always looking to strengthen and diversify our capabilities and you will have opportunities to have an impact on our future skills and services.
  • Professional recognition: We value chartered engineer and fellow status, and we mentor and support our employees to achieve this.
  • Teamwork: Working as part of a supportive group, you'll be proactive in developing your skills, reach out to colleagues for advice and support when needed, and freely share your experience with colleagues to support their development.

We are a systems and engineering technology consultancy that delivers innovative engineering to make people's lives safe, secure, sustainable, and affordable. Our people join us to make an impact on the world and to learn from some of the best minds in the industry. Our people stay because they value the wide variety of work, our positive team environment and the career opportunities provided by our sustained growth.

We support a wide range of industries in the commitment towards Net Zero, from nuclear power and renewable energy sources like wind, wave and hydrogen, to the energy networks and storage systems required for their integration. We provide an analytical capability to all of Frazer-Nash, supporting our full range of nuclear, energy, process industry and aviation customers.
