Job summary

THG Nutrition is seeking a Senior NPD Technologist to drive product innovation across the Global Myoprotein category. You will lead formulation development, coordinate sensory evaluation, and collaborate with brand, procurement, compliance and supply chain to deliver market-leading launches.

In this role, you will manage end-to-end projects, translate consumer insights into briefs, and mentor junior technologists.

Qualifications

• Degree in Sports Nutrition or Food Science or related field.
• 3–5 years experience in R&D/NPD function.
• Ability to develop new formulations and improve existing ones with sensory skills.
• Knowledge of the product development lifecycle from concept to launch.
• Strong commercial mindset balancing innovation and consumer needs.
• Proven project management across multiple projects and stakeholders.
• Able to build relationships across functions and external partners.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end formulation development for Sport Nutrition products with cross-functional teams.
• Coordinate samples, tastings, sensory reviews and document decisions.
• Translate market trends and consumer insights into product briefs and concepts.
• Oversee project timelines, prioritisation, and risk management across NPD.
• Collaborate with Brand, Regulatory, Quality, Procurement and Ops teams.
• Mentor junior technologists and drive line with business objectives.

The Role

As Senior NPD Technologist, you will be responsible for the development of product innovation across the Global Myoprotein product category. As Europe's largest online Sports Nutrition, this is a rare opportunity to be at the frontier of the industry. Your role will be all ‑ encompassing, responsible for ensuring market ‑ leading developments whilst collaborating with key stakeholders – brand, procurement, compliance and supply chain – to ensure timely delivery of business priority launches.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead f ormulation development of Sport Nutrition products in close collaboration with cross - function al teams to ensure best-in‑class launches.


• Coordinate product samples, tasting sessions, sensory reviews and feedback, ensuring decisions are clearly documented and followed through.


• Translate consumer needs, market trends, competitor activity and business priorities into clear product concepts and development briefs.


• Lead end ‑ to ‑ end project management across NPD, ensuring clear prioritisation, communication, and risk management.


• Analysis of market research and consumer insights to develop products .


• Coordinate cross-functional stakeholders across Brand, Category, Commercial, Quality, Regulatory, Technical, Procurement, Operations and regional teams.


• Work with external partners, including suppliers, manufacturers, flavour houses and other development partners.


• Support the development of product positioning, consumer benefits, claims, pack requirements and range architecture.


• Mentor Junior technologists to upskill and lead in line with business objectives .

Experience and Skills

• A degree in Sports Nutrition or Food Science or equivalent.


• 3 –5 years in a R&D /NPD function.


• Ability to develop new formulations and improve existing formulations with sensory skills.


• Understanding of the product development lifecycle, from opportunity identification through to launch and post‑launch review.


• Strong commercial mindset with a clear balance of innovation and consumer needs.


• Strong project management skills, with experience managing multiple projects and stakeholders at the same time.


• Conscientious and proactive attitude with excellent communication skills.


• A structured, detail‑focused and proactive approach to work.


• Ability to build effective relationships and work collaboratively across different functions .


• Experience working with suppliers, manufacturers or external development partners is essential .


• Knowledge of sports nutrition, powder products or performance ingredients is desirable.


• Experience working with external/global manufacturers or partners is desirable


• A passion for nutritional science, health and fitness.
