The role

As a Senior Non-Destructive Examination Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll be at the heart of our mission to support the Royal Navy’s submarine flotilla. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the through-life maintenance of critical defence assets at HMNB Clyde, within our Fleet Operations Directorate.

Day-to-day you’ll be:

  • Leading the development and review of NDT procedures and safety documentation
  • Collaborating with project teams to plan and sequence inspection work packages
  • Ensuring compliance with Ionising Radiation Regulations 2017 as Radiation Protection Supervisor
  • Supporting safety initiatives and risk assessments across the site
  • Communicating complex technical findings clearly to stakeholders

This role is full time, 36 hours per week Monday to Thursday and is based on site at HMNB Clyde Faslane.

Essential experience of the Senior Non-Destructive Examination Engineer

  • Applying Non-Destructive Examination techniques in an engineering environment
  • Demonstrating a strong understanding of radiation protection principles
  • Communicating complex technical concepts effectively, both verbally and in writing

Qualifications for the Senior Non-Destructive Examination Engineer

  • Minimum of three PCN Level II certifications in: Visual, DPI, MPI, UT (3.1/3.2), Advanced Radiation Safety
  • Level 3 qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, Constructive or Engineering (HNC, Degree or above)
  • Recognised engineering apprenticeship or equivalent

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
