Job summary

Pilgrims Friend Society in Chippenham is seeking a compassionate Senior Care Assistant to cover maternity leave at Middlefields House, a state-of-the-art home for 48 residents. The role focuses on promoting health and well-being, delivering person-centred care, and supporting residents with daily activities.

You will lead shifts when required, have care experience, and manage medication with safety in mind.

Qualifications

  • You enjoy working with older people and have empathy.
  • Preferably have an RQF accreditation in Health & Social care at level 3 or above.
  • Experience as a Senior Care Assistant in residential care.
  • Willing to lead shifts and take a hands-on role as required.
  • Able to work in a team and take on tasks to provide excellent care.
  • Experience in medication management and administration.
  • Experience in person-centred care planning and documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high quality, professional care to residents.
  • Supervise care team during your shift (health, safety, security; administer medications; arrange cover).
  • Help residents with personal cleanliness (e.g., baths).
  • Support residents to eat and drink.
  • Get to know residents to offer comfort and reassurance.
  • Supervise residents' care and well-being.
  • Ensure residents' care plans are up-to-date.
  • Support residents to stay independent and engage with the home community.
  • Assist in end-of-life care.
  • Perform other duties as required by your manager.

We are currently looking to appoint compassionate and committed Senior Care Assistant to cover maternity leave in our newly built, state of the art Middlefields House catering for 48 residents.

The Senior Care Assistant role is vital in residential care of the older people, promoting their health and well-being on a personal level.

Responsibilities
  • Provide a high quality, professional service of care to our residents.
  • Supervise all staff on the Care Team during your period of duty (including among other responsibilities: taking responsibility for Health, Safety and Security; administering medications to residents; arranging cover for staff who are absent through sickness; etc).
  • Help a resident with personal cleanliness such as helping a resident with a bath.
  • Support residents to eat and drink.
  • Get to know residents so as to comfort, assist and give reassurance when needed.
  • Supervise the care and well-being of our residents.
  • Ensure residents' care plans are up-to-date.
  • Support our residents to keep independent and healthy and encourage them to be part of the community within the home.
  • Assist in the care at end of life.
  • In addition to the duties and responsibilities listed, you are required to perform other duties assigned by your manager from time to time that are within your capabilities.
About you
  • You need to be someone who enjoys working with older people and can have an empathy with them;
  • You will preferably have a RQF accreditation in Health & Social care at level 3 or above;
  • You have experience working as a Senior Care Assistant in residential care;
  • You must be willing to both lead shifts and take a “hands on” role as required; and
  • You need to be able to work in a team and be willing to take on any task to provide an excellent level of care to our residents.

  • Have experience in Person-centred care planning and documentation

Hours

33 hours per week, working 3 nights per week, including alternate weekends.
