Job summary

Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust invites applications for a Senior Lawyer (Band 8a) to deliver in-house legal services across clinical negligence, inquests and healthcare advice. You will work closely with clinicians and Trust divisions to defend claims and support staff, contributing to governance and learning frameworks.

The post requires a Qualified Solicitor or Legal Executive with NHS experience, strong reporting skills, and the ability to supervise junior staff.

Qualifications

• Law degree or equivalent.
• Qualified Solicitor or Legal Executive with current appropriate legal experience.
• Strong evidence of continuing personal and professional development.

Responsibilities

• Clinical Negligence Claims handling.
• Inquests support and representation.
• Provide healthcare advice to clinical and non-clinical situations.
• Assist with disclosure requests.
• Deliver internal and external training on core areas.
• Participate in on-call rota for urgent Police requests.
