Job summary

Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust in the south coast seeks an experienced Healthcare Scientist to deliver complex neurophysiology diagnostics and therapy across diverse patient groups. You will work in satellite clinics and lead a team within peripheral neurophysiology.

The role requires a Master's level qualification or STP, HCPC/AHCS registration (or progress towards), and proven experience in EEG/NCS/EP with strong communication and teaching abilities.

Qualifications

• Master's level qualification or Completed Scientific Training Programme (STP).
• Equivalent: BSc Certification + ANS Professional exams in EEG/NCS/EP.
• Registered (or working towards) with AHCS or HCPC.

Responsibilities

• Communicate procedures and information to patients with disabilities; ensure understanding and consent where necessary.
• Provide highly specialist expertise in peripheral neurophysiology with master's level knowledge.
• Analyse and interpret test results; resolve complex equipment issues.
• Plan activity/workload independently and support junior staff.
• Lead a team for own work area within peripheral neurophysiology; supervise and train others.
• Ensure secure handling of patient data and compliance with governance standards.
• Lead in research, audits, and clinical trials; support service development.
