Job Description
Job Title: Senior Network Engineer
Location: Belfast
Hybrid - 2 days onsite per week, remainder remote. (Will on occassion involve client visits in the NI region.)

Reporting to: Operations Manager
Type: Full-time Perm
Salary - 55 - 60k £ neg. on experience.
Candidates must possess full working rights as sponsorship is not offered for this position.

Overview:
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Network Engineer to play a leading role in delivering, supporting, and enhancing enterprise network solutions for a diverse customer base. This role is instrumental in ensuring outstanding technical service, innovative solution design, and strategic input into network infrastructure projects.
As a trusted subject matter expert, the Senior Network Engineer will oversee the full solution life cycle, from design and implementation to ongoing support, while mentoring junior team members and driving a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
Act as a trusted advisor and subject matter expert across a portfolio of enterprise and government clients.
Design, build, and support complex network and security solutions, aligned with customer requirements and industry best practices.
Provide technical leadership during project delivery and change implementations, including documentation, test planning, and change control compliance.
Optimise and maintain critical LAN, WAN, WLAN, and data centre network services.
Implement and validate robust security configurations and ensure solutions meet industry standards and compliance requirements.
Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams, partners, and vendors on solution development and emerging technologies.
Support 24x7 service operations through participation in on-call rotations and effective incident management.
Produce high-quality design, operational, and technical documentation.
Contribute to internal tooling, process improvements, and service innovation initiatives.
Maintain current technical certifications and industry knowledge.
Support customer engagement efforts with clear communication and relationship-building.
Essential Skills & Experience:
5+ years' experience in a Senior Network Engineer role OR 8+ years as a Network Engineer in enterprise or government environments.
Strong practical experience or valid certification in:
Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)
Cisco Certified Security Professional (CCSP)
Fortinet certifications (FCA, FCP, FCCS, FCX)
Proven capability in the following areas:
LAN/WAN/Wi-Fi networking
Cisco SDA, SNA, ISE, DNAC, ACI
Fortinet FortiGate, FortiSwitch, FortiWireless, FortiSASE
Network and perimeter security: Firewalls, IPS, SASE, ZTNA, UTM/UTP
MPLS, L2VPNs, Internet access technologies
Data Centre switching and campus design
Experience working in complex, enterprise-grade IP environments.
High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, Word, Visio, and PowerPoint.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to influence stakeholders.
Commercial awareness and a solution-oriented mindset.
Ability to work independently and within a team structure.

Cisco ENWLSD/ENWLSI
Fortinet Expert/Professional Accreditation
Experience with:
SD-WAN, SD-Access
Scripting and automation (eg, Python, Ansible)
